Not necessarily. Insomnia has more to do with the quality of the sleep, than the quantity. Everyone requires different amounts of sleep, so if you are sleeping less than 8 hours at night, but don't feel drowsy during the day and the sleep you get is uninterrupted, you probably don't have insomnia. If you have any concerns about your sleep or lack of it, speak to your doctor.
Not everyone who snores has sleep apnea. However, you may want to either record your snoring or ask a bed partner to listen to the pattern of your snoring to check for a cessation in breathing, or apnea. If you stop breathing in the midst of snoring, you should see a doctor.
Your doctor will need to analyze the patterns of your insomnia, so it would be helpful if you prepared a sleep log before visiting him or her. You can do this by writing down when you feel tired during the day, how long you sleep, and how many times you wake up at night.
