If your baby has suffered from earaches before, you know just how much pain is involved. Try these tips to help prevent earaches from starting in the first place.
-
Ensure your baby isn’t around second-hand smoke
-
Feed your baby in an upright position — so that fluid doesn’t enter their ears and eustachian tubes
-
Limit the amount of time your baby spends with other children who have colds
-
Avoid inserting cotton-tipped swabs, lamb’s wool or earplugs into your baby’s ears since they may cause irritation
-
Keep your baby’s ears dry especially if they’ve been in water.
-
Keep your baby out of dusty areas or areas with airborne debris — this may cause an overproduction of ear wax
-
Speak to your doctor if your baby suffers from frequent earaches associated with a cold
