Children under 6 years old can be given single-ingredient pain relievers and fever reducers such as Infants’ and Children’s TYLENOL®. However, they should not be given non-prescription cough and cold medicines. Click here for detailed information.

Children’s TYLENOL® Fever From Colds or Flu Liquid Dosage:

  • If possible, use weight to determine your child’s dose, otherwise use age. Find the right dose on the chart.
  • SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE.
  • The enclosed measuring cup that comes with Children’s TYLENOL® Liquids has been specially designed for use with these products. Use only the enclosed measuring cup to dose.
  • Single dose may be repeated every 4 to 6 hours, as needed.
  • Do not give more than 5 doses of acetaminophen per day.
  • Children’s TYLENOL® Fever From Colds or Flu Liquids are not the same concentration as Infants’ TYLENOL® Fever From Colds or Flu Drops.

Junior Strength Children’s TYLENOL® FASTMELTS® Fever from Colds or Flu Dosage:

  • If possible, use weight to determine your child’s dose, otherwise use age. Find the right dose on the chart.
  • Single dose may be repeated every 4 to 6 hours, as needed.
  • Do not give more than 5 doses of acetaminophen per day.
  • Junior Strength Children’s TYLENOL® FASTMELTS® Fever from Colds or Flu do not contain the same ingredients as Junior Strength TYLENOL® Cold and Cough Chewable Tablets.

Medicinal Ingredient

Each 5 mL of Children’s TYLENOL® Fever From Colds or Flu Liquid contains:

  • Pain reliever/Fever Reducer: acetaminophen, 160mg

Each Children’s TYLENOL® Fever From Colds or Flu Meltaway tablet contains:

  • Pain reliever/Fever Reducer: acetaminophen, 80mg

Non-Medicinal Ingredients (alphabetical):

Children’s TYLENOL® Fever From Colds or Flu Liquid: butylparaben, carboxymethylcellulose sodium, cellulose, citric acid, flavours, glycerin, propylene glycol, propylparaben, purified water, sorbitol, sucralose, sucrose, xanthan gum.

Children's TYLENOL® Fever From Colds or Flu MELTAWAYS™: cellulose acetate, citric acid, D&C red no. 7, dextrose, flavour, magnesium stearate, providone, sucralose.

Caution

Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use with other drugs containing acetaminophen. Do not take more than the maximum daily dose. Overdose may result in severe or possibly fatal liver damage. Consult a doctor if symptoms last for more than 5 days, fever lasts more than 3 days or allergic reactions such as wheezing, rash or itching develop. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if your child:

  • Has serious kidney or liver disease
  • Uses any other medications including natural health products, prescription drugs, salicylates or other pain and fever relief medications.

Do not use this product if allergic to acetaminophen.

In case of overdose, call a Poison Control Centre or doctor immediately, even if you do not notice any possible signs or symptoms such as increased sweating, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and loss of appetite.

WARNING: Do not use if carton is open or if printed bottle neck band or inner foil seal is broken.

What should I do if I think my child has taken more than the recommended dose of TYLENOL® ?

If you, your child, or someone you know, has taken more than the recommended dose of TYLENOL®, call a Poison Control Centre or a doctor immediately even if you do not notice any possible signs or symptoms such as increased sweating, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and loss of appteite. An accidental overdose of a TYLENOL® product, or any other medication, can be very serious.

What happens if Infants’ and Children’s TYLENOL® liquid products are accidentally frozen?

All TYLENOL® liquid products have undergone extensive evaluations which have shown that freezing does not affect their quality and effectiveness. If you accidentally forgot your Infants’ or Children's TYLENOL® product in the car on a cold winter night, don't worry. Allow the medication to thaw at room temperature, and shake it well before you use it. Store the medication at room temperature.

Should Infants’ and Children’s TYLENOL® liquid products be stored in the fridge?

No. Infants’ and Children’s TYLENOL® products are stable at room temperature (15 - 30°C (59 - 86°F)). We recommend that all TYLENOL® products be stored safely in a medicine cabinet or cupboard rather than in a refrigerator.

What symptoms do Infants’ and Children’s TYLENOL® Fever from Colds & Flu products relieve?

Infants’ and Children’s TYLENOL® Fever from Colds & Flu contains acetaminophen, which provides relief from fever, and aches and pains caused by a cold or flu. It does not treat any other cough or cold symptoms.
